Zwo533mc Flats Adu and exposure

Can users of the zwo533mc tell me what adu value and exposure length they use for their flats , using a uv filter my last set of flats seemed to work at 25k and 2.3 sec exposure using APT flats aid  , what adu value do others users maybe different depending if they have different filters in use such as L extreme, etc.

Hopefully 533 users chime in but for what its worth I have 3 IMX571 cameras which are the same sensor as yours just different form factor. I find the flats ADU to not matter very much as long you're not clipping either end of the histogram. I've taken flats as low as 400 mean adu and as high as 40,000 and they all work the same. As or exposure time I use 1 second subs as a standard.

Normally between 12K to 36K depending on sky brightness, all with a L-PRO filter. Exposures from 0.05s to 0.2s. F/4 optics.

Peak histogram in the middle, so if you're using SGP or any other software that provides ADU in 16bit, then you should be around 30,000. The ADU is constant for the filters, you always want to be around 30k. What changes between filters is the duration of the flat frame. A 30k ADU taking 1 second with a broadband filter, will take 3 seconds with narrowband filters (example).

The consensus is to have flats > 0.5s at least, due to the nature of cmos sensors being weird below that. But I've gotten away with 0.2-0.3s flats, so it's up to you if they work or not.

If you take lower adu values you should take more flats to avoid excessive noise in the master flat. Other then that, i don't see why you couldn't use low adu's.

I have been using 32,000 ADU, which means 0.125 second exposure at 100 gain with UV/IR cut filter.  Seems to work well for me.

Thanks guys, I also found some info on working out Adu value, I use Apt so will look into if it is scaling to 16 bit and see what the math works out at

I had an issue with my flats using the ASI533MC and an RC8 scope so tried quite a different ADU range from 19,000 to above 35,000.
I saw no much difference.
(the problem was resolved using PI instead of DSS but that's another story)

your issue might be related to the RC8, unless it is a very recent purchase, there were few discussions about this recently, based on this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHuLrYe-oik

Just a bit of info Ivo at Apt checked the Adu value on a 15sec exposure and it came out at 65,535 using the native driver so the driver is scaling to 16bit output .
