Every time an exposure ends it takes about 7 seconds for it to appear on the screen it is very inconvenient when I’m trying to focus on a star, I have to wait 7 seconds every time for it to catch up to see my adjustments same issue doing regular acquisitions on targets, I tried reinstalling the ascom platform, zwo driver, I even reinstalled nina and nothing made any difference, my new laptop is an acer 16 ram, ssd, AMD Ryzen 7 7730U, and the weird thing is that my home pc has no problems running my camera, it responds instantly but it would be very inconvenient to drag my big home pc setup out to the remote site, anybody else run into this issue?

Are you going into a USB3 port on the laptop?

cosmosexplorer avatar

Yes, tried all 3 and no difference. Thanks for responding.

Turn off star detection/image analysis, see if that makes things faster.

I will give that a try next time I get it set up, thanks.

More details on the camera model please.

When you say remote site, do you mean bottom of you garden or a 1000 miles away?

What control pc are you using for the remote gear? The new laptop or a mini pc?

When you say 7 seconds delay, is that to you laptop or seeing it on your laptop from your desktop?

Are you using any usb hubs or usb extension leads anywhere?

I got the same problem with my QHY600 - but my solution is to use for quick focussing the QHY app - there I can choose “LIVE” - that means, it refreshes within less than one second. I presume that you find a similar app for ASI..

As a temporary solution, you can enable subsampling (region of interest), set the crop f.e. 1000×1000 and drag over the entire frame, to chose some bright star.

This maybe a windows device configuration issue try these suggestions:

To access and modify USB settings via Device Manager in Windows 10 and 11, press Windows Key + X and select Device Manager. Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers section, right-click the specific USB device or hub, and select Properties.

Within the Properties window, key settings are found in two tabs:

  • Power Management: Uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power to prevent Windows from suspending the device (a common fix for devices disconnecting randomly).

  • Advanced: Click the USB Settings button to manually adjust Power Management and Data Transfer configurations for the specific device.

For broader system-level controls, such as USB Selective Suspend or USB Battery Saver, you must navigate to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > USB (Windows 11) or Control Panel > Power Options > Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings (Windows 10/11), as these are not directly editable within the Device Manager interface.
