Wanderer ETA Tilt Corrector N.I.N.A. connection button behavior

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to connect my Wanderer ETA Tilt Corrector to N.I.N.A. and I have a specific question about the expected behaviour in the software.

Several AI assistants (and some online sources) have told me that the N.I.N.A. connection button for the Wanderer ETA should turn green once communication between N.I.N.A. and the device is established. However, when I contacted WandererAstro support directly, Frank Wang told me that the button never turns green under any circumstances.

My question: Has anyone here successfully connected the Wanderer ETA Tilt Corrector to N.I.N.A.? If so — does the button turn green, or is there another visual indicator that confirms the connection is active?

Any real-world experience would be very much appreciated!

When you connect in NINA does the usual “connection successful” window open up? I would certainly take the developer’s advice over AI’s.

Dear,

Wanderer already approached 2 times and gave no solution.

Well that the button does not turn green.

Where you can see if the connection was successful in, for example, NINA is not indicated.

The switch from ASIAIR to NINA only makes sense to me if the automatic tilt correction is carried out in the Wanderer ETA.

Incidentally, the reaction of the Wanderer software builder was that your AI products are not always right! I believe so, but where can you go?

I don’t have a Wanderer tilt corrector but I do have a Wanderer flat panel (which is OK, not great).

When connecting this device, or any other, the connection button in NINA does not turn green. Rather, when a device connects you will get a message in the lower right of the NINA window that has a green checkmark, like this:

📷 Screenshot 2026-04-27 at 8.41.23 PM.pngScreenshot 2026-04-27 at 8.41.23 PM.pngIf it fails to connect, the green check is a red X. This is likely what the AI assistant meant: a “green button.” If you see this appear in the lower right, it connected.

For the Wanderer flat panel, NINA calls the Wanderer Empire software, which is what controls the equipment. I believe this is also true of the tilt corrector. If you don’t have that installed, it may not connect:

If you have not installed, or Wanderer Empire is not running when you try to connect, I recommend doing that.

The connection in NINA is actually made through Wanderer Empire, their software. In NINA, you will see the pop up signaling the connection has been made. In Wanderer Empire you will see the Connect button change to Disconnect (but it will not turn green).

Why he would ask here and an AI when the vendor already gave him the answer is a bit strange, isn’t it?
