"Hi everyone,

I'm planning to 3D print a custom base to mount a Baader Diamond Steeltrack on my Sky-Watcher 254/1000 Quattro (10") Newtonian. To make sure the design is perfect and avoid any flexure or tilt, I need to verify the exact dimensions.I have my setup in a hosting so i need some measurements before installing

If anyone has this setup or a compatible base, could you please provide the following measurements?

  1. Screw Hole Pattern: The exact distance (center-to-center) between the 4 mounting screws (e.g., 85mm x 85mm).

  2. Flange/Dovetail Diameter: The diameter of the circular part where the Steeltrack body actually sits and is clamped.

  3. Measurements of the dovetail or adapter.

If you have a 3D file (STL/STEP) or a technical drawing, that would be even better!

I am using an ASI2600, so rigidity is my main concern. Thanks in advance for your help!

Clear skies!"

It won’t help with the hole pattern on the tube, but the Baader technical drawing for the versa base that the BDS-NT ships with should answer 2 and 3.

Just to add, from a stiffness perspective it is greatly improved by using a CNC aluminium spider which helps to brace the thin steel tube in front of the focuser. You can always add a second CNC aluminium ring (e.g. the CYCK spider with the vanes cut out) behind the focuser for extra stiffening.

I just measured and drafted a base for mine to attach to my 18” dobsonian last week. I’ve test printed and it fits perfectly. The only problem is I’m probably missing a couple measurements you might want, as I am adapting mine for a flat platform and used the inner M4 screws to attach a base. The base does not protrude beyond the adjustable mounting flange. If you still want it, I can log in tonight when I get home and upload the file.

Also, I do remember seeing a base already drafted up by someone on MakerWorld, I’d take a look there.

Si, ya tengo una araña Cyck, y le da mucha más estabilidad al equipo, sobre todo a la colimación
