How is Meade LX850 10” f/8 for astrophotography?
There’s not a lot of current info out there as Meade went out of business in 2024. The few reviews I could find seemed to suggest that the optics in these units were fine with performance similar to an RC. I can’t see any reason why one of these wouldn’t be useful for astrophotography
Having seen a LOT of images from these scopes back in the early 2010’s, I can tell you these will absolutely do well for imaging.
I never had one, but I lusted after the 10” F/8 when I had my C11… The extra speed, coupled with the RC like optics made these scopes in the upper end of consumer reflectors back then.
Sure, these days, a 10” pure RC might be slightly better, but it will also be significantly more work to collimate, and a the Edge HD 11 may well be better overall, but if you have a Meade 10” F/8 RCX / ACF scope, don’t discount how great that will be!

Thank you, Alex. Actually, I have HD11 and it’s doing well but I feel the pictures are slightly not clear and sharp like a refractor. What I want is to make a double rig of HD11 f/7 and Meade 10” f/8 as they are nearly the same focal length and combine their data to double the imaging time. So, I’m asking is it worth the try or to keep my single rig HD11 as it’s? Thanks
