I thought now days processing is so active and so much tools are available it would be nice to have a place were we can post the image with all the stars in the image so I opened a group

its not about its better or not its just that they are there.

Its ok to add a second starless version , that’s fine for observation and study .

welcome to show us all the stars in your images !!

Here’s a monochrome test shot with my new RC. I never mess with the stars in Galaxy images as they are often part of the subject and it can also do damage to tiny, almost starlike, field galaxies.

Oh, you can look at anything I have in my Gallery. None of the images are manipulated. Just stacked and saved as a web friendly .jpg

Some areas have a lot more stars, others have fewer. But I like them Au Natural.

Full stars ? No reduction at all ? No, I never do. I prefer shooting nebulae and I think too many stars hides some details in the nebulosity. I always use star reduction. Of course that is for now, the day I decide to try star clusters that would be different.

There is no yes or no answer to this question, it depends on what one shoots and wants to feature.

Yes , that is true, nothing is right or wrong, it’s just a question of taste.

I’ve got several in my gallery. Here is a straight-up LRGB image, no star removal or reduction done in processing: https://www.astrobin.com/keanut/

There’s finally a new star removal tool out there that’s worth looking at. It’s called Zenith-V1 by Syqon. It’s available as a script for both Siril and SetiAstroSuite, not sure about PI but I can’t imagine it won’t make its way there at some point. ...
