Hi everyone,

I have a question about combining datasets from different equipment.

Let’s say I have images of the same target taken with different telescopes and cameras, meaning the data has different focal lengths, pixel size, and resolutions.

I know that AstroPixelProcessor can stack such data together.

But I’m not sure if PixInsight can do the same.

Is it possible in PixInsight to directly stack exposures from different scopes/cameras into one integrated image?

I’m curious what the best workflow is in PixInsight for this situation.

Thanks!

Found this in the PI forum:

Thank you, Tony.

I am just interested in whether this could work for big collab projects.

Still looks like APP outperforms PI in this case.

I have no idea but there are people here who do that sort of thing.

Hopefully someone who did this kind of thing will share their expirience 😁.

My 2 cents.

I did this multiple times in Pixinsight even with different camera sensor pixel size.

Let’s say you have rig A and rig B (different cameras same target). Stack separatly the 2 group of images coming from the 2 rigs. Then align the 2 master lights with DynamicAlignment (NOT StarAlignment). Then you are ready to stack the 2 master.

I tried with stacking alltogether the single frames in PI but I gave up after looking at multi forums. It seems not possible or not easy.

But you can do that in APP (I tried and it works). I still prefer the solution I have mentioned above as I can see the effect and contribution of each master to the final master. Sometime I found adding one master to the other being more detrimental then anything else.

Hi, sebaromano.

I never heard of such a method.

Will definitely try.

Thank you.

I used APP before for only stcking different exposure times which i find easier than PI, but i didn’t try for combining different setup, in any case i will use any software that can allow me to that, i have both so it won’t be an issue for me.
