Sony camera saving as FITS instead of ARW format in NINA

Hi all,

I use a sony camera paired with NINA, myfiles are saving as FITS to the computers disk however I thought NINA would ignore this and save ARW (sony’s native raw format). I have had trouble with the images being saved as mono aswell… as i can see DSS isn’t reading the CFA/metadata of the files, probably because its not there.

Thanks.

Are you using a native driver? Because otherwise NINA will save images in the pre-set format, FITS. You can choose to save them as 16-bit tiff however.

I have the ASCOM sony mirrorless driver by Douglas henderson installed, is that the right one?

Check whether the ASCOM plug-in allows a choice of saving format if not then you're stuck. Best way around is use the NINA native driver here:

for anyone else seeing this with a sony mirrorless camera:

Once you have installed the sony mirrorless camera plugin in nina, and the driver that the instructions direct you to,

select sony mirrorless camera (ascom) under equipment - camera in NINA

hit the settings button next to the dropdown, and an ascom page should appear (should connect camera and turn on beforehand)

selelect your camera in the dropdown and make sure the setting target aplication in the other tab is nina.

hit ok when your done, disconnect camera and next time you connect the camera it should be listed there.

now the files saved to disk should be ARW, contain metadata.
