I do believe that going from your current mount to the ASA will prove to be like living in another universe. The ASA is a completely different monster and would need to be treated as such. It is a mount that is strictly designed as an observatory mount, it is not a mobile mount. The motor on the mount is designed to make only one rotation in a 24hr period. No belts, no gears, no reduction at all.
But to say that they are probably the best mounts out there would not be a difficult statement to defend.
I think this particular ASA mount size has been discontinued, so repair may be difficult and probably very costly.
Do your research. Go to the ASA website. Learn what you will be getting yourself into before you take the jump.
I personally would buy it in a heartbeat, and build an observatory around it, that is if it still works properly.
