Need clean ASTAP files for Windows, current version not solving

ASTAP is giving me fits again. Not fit files, Like not solving, not enough stars when I can see a lot of stars in the sample image.

Last time this happened the files were laced with a bunch of attempts to put Apple crap in them.

Anybody got a link to CLEAN ASTAP files for Windows systems?

I’m sick and tired of dealing with corrupted files.

Note: Recalled I had upgraded ASCOM from the version I knew worked to the latest version, 7.1 or 7.2, CRS.

Since none of the NINA offerings could solve, Today I uninstalled ASCOM and reinstalled my 6.xx version to try tonight.

If it asks me to update to the latest version of ASCOM, I think I’ll smash it with a hammer.

Who knows what trashy, half-baked garbage has been added to ASCOM and unleashed on the world as the latest greatest.

So that’s my story and I’m St-St-Stikin toit.

I have the 2025-11-25 version with the D50 database available on my site. Not sure about providing links for “competing sites” here so you can probably do a Google Search on my avatar text and ASTAP D50 combined and find it easily.

It is what I use on my 4 mini PC installs running Windows 11. I only created them because a user new to the field was not sure what all they needed to download and figured it was easier to have them in one archive for them.

Since the skies are all cloudy all day and all night here lately, I decided to, once again, reset my mount computer then reload my good programs. It sortta worked…. it still wants me to upgrade to the non-working latest ASCOM which I refuse to do.

Now the trouble is… I still can’t see the sky to test if anything works.

BTW, I just reloaded the programs I know worked. Thank You for your Reply, Tracy.

Oh, I’m a D50 star catalog user, too.

Yeah, I think ASCOM does auto-checks that cannot be disabled. I can see their point and it’s not that big of a deal to click to ignore the update…. but I personally think it should be an option that can be set by the individual.

I personally use the D80 catalog, but the D50 was smaller (file size) and works for most people. I have limited storage space on my website server and with doing Linux/Windows/Mac versions the archive sizes were rather large with the D80.

Yeah, I can ignore the nag screen of ASsCOM. I agree, our computer should be our own so we can shut off the nag screens. I hate Windows and their constant “security” upgrades. Security for whom? All I get is holes blown in our 3rd party drivers for non-Windows programs. I’ve done everything except totally shut down Windows Updates. Windows has become a beach about taking over people’s computers.

I had both the D50 and the D80 catalogs downloaded. But used the D50. So this time I’ve simply got the D50 for now. Saturday I may have clear night skies. Looking forward to actually doing a real test run.

I’m not convinced I need the burgeoning D80 star catalog. But I might change my mind. It’s a small thing…. 😄

If you ever find a cloud filter please let me know. I’d like to get one…
