I am not sure about others but since all of my images are taken over multiple nights, typically 8 -20, it would be nice to be able to choose multiple dates from the “calendar” for each filter/exposure. Right now I just resort to using the last imaging date of that object for all my subs and note in the description what the total number of nights and date range I used was.

So you want to be able to have each filter be its own line in the acquisition form? I guess that works if you use the same number of frames each night, but at least for me that’s rarely the case.

When I have multiple nights, I fill in the acquisition for the first night, duplicate it, change the date and the number of exposures, and repeat for each night and each filter.

What I had in mind is to be able to select multiple dates for each filter and then have that filter show those dates as used in the final description.

📷 image.pngimage.pngLike this? That’s from this photo. You just have to hover over the dates to see the actual dates. The acquisition form looks like this, except more lines below.

I knew it could be done, having seen others like that but what I was looking for is a simple way to do it w/o creating many lines on the entry form for each filter using copy/paste and then changing the dates on each new paste. Being able to select multiple nights (perhaps using control) on the calendar would make that much easier. I know that would not tell folks how many exposures for that filter were on each date of the batch but I am not sure others really care about that level of detail.

Hi Bill,

on AstroBin each line corresponds to a session. Thanks to this rigid data structure then the UI can display things flexibly. But if we don't have a comprehensive way to input sessions, it could encourage sloppiness in data input.

As Quinn says, your idea only works if you have the same numbers of frames and durations on multiple dates, which I guess it's not super common.

I'm open to ideas on making that UI simpler but retain the power tho!
