Seestar 50 Unstacked Practice Data

I am thinking about getting a Seestar 50 to play around with while my regular rig is imaging (Askar 107PHQ/ASI2600MC Pro). I am trying to be realistic and manage expectations. I know that the S50 images won’t be as robust as those from my main rig, but it still should be lots of fun.

Before I make any final decisions, I’d like to try processing some S50 data to see just how far I can go with it. I have seen several posts and/or tutorials with downloadable “stacked” data, but I think that I’d prefer to start right from scratch with unstacked raw data.

Does anyone have or know of a good source of raw unstacked S50 practice data? Ideally, I like to try to find a few different targets/datasets with at least 2 hours each (preferable more) of “fits” data.

Any help would be very much appreciate.

I have some M27 subs from back in May I can upload to provide access… lmk

and why is my msg to be moderator reviewed?

I’ve got a few days of clouds but I’ll try to capture something on Tuesday and will be happy to share the data. It’s a good grab and go. I have two scopes out under covers and usually only have to attach the image train but the Seestar is much easier to get going. I’ve been impressed so far.

Thanks Larry. Practice went well. I appreciate you allowing me to test S50 processing with your data.

I am tempted to go ahead right now and order a S50, but I may just wait until the new year to see if ZWO makes any announcements about the much anticipated updated S50 Pro. :)

@bluespeck glad to have helped … I think that ZWO are more likely to release the S30Pro in ‘26, but I suppose they may also “launch” an S50Pro also, but given that the S30 was announced at NEAF and is still to become available I would be surprised if we will see an S50Pro before NEAF ‘26 … YMMV

regardless of which SeeStar you purchase I strongly recommend a good tripod and wedge to support EQ mode imaging …

keep us posted on your decision!

noise
