Celestron edge hd 9.25 is Perth, Australia too windy for it?

Hi guys. I've started taking interest in some small galaxies etc and i’m pushing the limit of my 683 focal length. I’m looking to get a celestron edge hd 9.25 but wanting to know from real life experience if it’s going to be a waste of money for me. The issue I have is the wind. I live in perth, western australia… one of the windiest cities in the world. I have an am5n and a geoptik hercules wooden tripod so it’s very sturdy. I have next to no issues putting my svbony 122 refractor out most nights, but i’m worried i’m going to end up spending the 7k aud or so on the edge set up to find that I can only use it a handful of times a year. According to Google the average wind is 20km over the summer months but obviously real world experience would be a better gauge. I don’t think it would be practical for me to build an observatory.

Has anyone got any hands on experience with this or is the wind not as much of an issue as you would think with these SCT?

Is there any other issues with this scope that I am overlooking for these hot climates?

Thanks

$7K on a telescope and $50 on a cheap tent (or some kind of structure to keep the wind off).

Too easy. ;-)

I own a smaller Mak and struggle with wind on both my AM5N and HEQ5-Pro. In particular the dew shield seems to (logically) catch quite a bit of wind. As I have very little options to shield the scope from the wind, this is the main reason why I personally never pulled the trigger on a higher FL scope.

📷 IMG_1223.jpegIMG_1223.jpegHi there! I have a similar setup, and during windy, clear nights, I bought two “Green Elephant Camping Tarp Poles” from Amazon and a small tarp. This solution has been a game-changer for me. I took this picture last year at the winter star party.

What is your real-world experience with oversampling?
Context here is deep sky imaging. I believe the image scale guideline used to be 2x the seeing. I also believe the current guidance is closer to 3x the seeing, partially due to advanced deconvolution tools like BlurXterminator. I am very curious to h...
