app is a piece of good working software and i always enjoyed using it, that said, i would not buy it anymore. Bite the bullet and buy pixinsight.
Thank you for the advice. I have been trying Siril but have not been able to get what I would consider any images that I thought were great from it and found the interface to be very confusing and not intuitive so I thought I would give APP a shot to see if I could do better. We will see!
In the past they have run Black Friday Sales on both the renters and owners option. I bought mine last year on the BF Sale. Other than this, I have not seen any discounts or sales.
Pixinsight is terrific with its powerful processing tools, but nothing beats APP for fast and convenient stacking. I use it first, then to Pixinsight for calibration and light stretching, and finish in Photoshop. A powerful trio, but also three apps to learn.

I had neglected to say that I am a Mac user, which also attracted me to APP. I am hoping that it will work well with Mac OS.

Mac user here - I’ve tried Siril DSS, Pixinsight, and find APP to be brilliant. So much so that I bought a licence rather than rent one - important to support companies creating good products. Similar to a post above, I calibrate and stack in APP, and then switch to Pixinsight for everything else.

Like others, I have used APP for several years to stack and calibrate, and find their light pollution and star color calibration tools very useful. The mosaic capabilities are excellent. I use PixInsight to get access to the RC ASTRO tools and finish with AFFINITY Photo. APP is well worth the investment in my experience.
