This is my second version of this image. I wanted to get the stars correct from RGB filters and using foraxx. Any suggestions at making this one better given constraints of equipment and location. Much appreciated.

Dear Andrew,

much better colors in your second attempt, you eliminated the green tint very nicely. But someting went wrong with the stars: the bright star in the upper left corner shows artifacts in the core and in general I have the impression, that you reduced the star size just a little bit too much. To sum it up: try to combine the colors of your second attempt and the star shapes of your first attempt.

In PI I simply would extract Lum form your first attempt, blur the second picture a little and make an LRBG combination by using Lum from the first picture.

Just my 2c, it is a nice picature as it is now.

Best Regards

Fritz

IMO it’s not a very strong composition, there really is no clear subject. I actually think the composition is stronger with your original image because you cropped in more but it’s still a bit awkward. it’s a common problem with super wide field images like this. Perhaps going back to your original crop and presenting it vertically would help.

If you could get a bit more emphasis in the very faint Ha on the left side I think you’d have a image that compositionally, works a lot better.

Thank you both for the input. You have given me some good feedback to think about. I will post an updated image in a few days.
