This is the first image where I used bias frames and increased the offset on my camera from 1 to 160.  The bias histogram was just off the left side of the histogram.  The result is that this image has substantially more detail and depth than my previous work, and less noise.  I'm not sure how much the bias frames contributes to that, but I think I understand now while my previous images had blotchy dark patches: I was clipping the dark pixels.

I think maybe the weakest part of this image are the stars, both color and brightness.  I worry I over-sharpened them.

What do you think?  What should I be doing to improve my images?

You're doing alright. Stars colors are a bit lacking and I'd have gone for a shade less reduction but given that you haven't got true colors to play with I think it's alright. But the FOV is a bit restrictive and I wouldn't have chosen the subject given that constraint.

I agree a wider FOV on this subject would have been helpful. But good processing and nice detail. Perhaps a bit more contrast. I think the stars look OK. They could be improved by removing them and adding the stars in their natural colors. That can be done with a separate unfiltered run at the target, or use the SETI Astro PI script that turns NB stars into RGB stars. I use that technique a lot and like it.

But this overall is a solid image.

@Mel Martin I will check out that script, thanks for the suggestion.
