I don't count my lenses and general photography gear as that is "it's own thing". I have two Samyang 135mm setups that I only use for AP though, and two mounts for home use only.

Telescopes:
Celestron Edge 8HD
Sky-Watcher Esprit 100ED
Dan Brown avatar
Takahashi E160
AP 110GTX
Stellarvue 130 (need to sell)
I think my next scope will be a Takahashi CCA-250, if they resume production.

And several pairs of binoculars (and tripods) but they weren't asked about in this survey !

I started 13 months ago with this wonderful hobby.

Currently:

WO FLT91
Tak TOA130-NFB
Tak Mewlon-210
Askar FRA300
CDK-14 (want to move this one to a remote site)

I hope to add a CDK-24 or an ASA 600 to this list, still investigating.

1st.  William Optics Zenistart 81 (because the Celestron was taking too long during Covid when I started this hobby)
2nd. Celestron EdgeHD 8" (the one I really wanted to start with)
3rd. SkyWatcher Esprit 120ED (because it's just that bit better than the Z81)
4th. Lunt LS50THa (because the sun is fun, always changing and a rather handy nearby star)

All used on the same mount (EQ6R).
Cheers.

Currently using:

- Samyang 135mm F2 UMC converted as an Astrograph
- Vixen FL55ss (used in native focal lenght and also with reducer)
- Vixen FL102S (used in native focal lenght and also with reducer)
- Celestron C8 (used in native focal lenght and also with x0.63 reducer and also Hyperstar V4)
- Mizar/NPZ TAL-1 (for visual)
- Meade ETX-70 (for visual)

Those are what I have right now.. Planning to acquire a reflector to see if I fill the gap around the 500mm and 800mm

Regards,

Cesar

Planewave CDK 14 & Takahashi FSQ106 both mounted remotely on 10Micron Mounts

C11HD, AT130EDT and AT90CFT used at home for visual, planetary and some NB imaging on a G11G and a AM5.

In other words, too damn many.

I'm curious how many telescopes imagers typically own.  I personally run two in Chile but I also have 3 other small scopes kicking around my shop for visual use.  If you've got more that one, what are they?

John

For imaging, I use just two. I have a 305mm remote telescope that does 90% of the work since it requires no setup, has plenty of aperture, and is a good fit for a variety of targets. For EAA and occasional wide field imaging I use a 4.3" refractor. That's it.

Two sites, Two mounts, 5 scopes.

Mounts:  Planewave L-350 and AP 1600 AE

Scopes: CDK 14, FSQ106N, Epsilon 130D, RedCat 71 WIFD.

Of course since I have been doing this sone 1993, I have bought and sold a lot of scopes in that time.

I also have a Stellarvue SVQ-100 that just went up for sale on Astromart since I am out of mount space (if anybody is looking to add to their collection! )

Prolly 75% of the imaging is with the CDK since it sits at a dark remote site with great seeing. Much less so with the FSQ and Epsilon as they are at home in the Pacific NW with it's fires and clouds way too often. RedCat is quite new (no complete image yet) and is at the remote site for when the seeing is less than ideal.

I would get bored very quickly with just one scope.
Coming from the regular camera world, Telescopes are cheap. I own several Dslr lens
that cost twice what most telescopes cost.

I currently have 3 in service in my ROR observatory & 2 on standby or backup just in case I need to work on one of the setups. I just sold my AP 160 EDF and an 8” f6.3 sct. Had to thin the heard 😀
I’m not lucky enough to have a remote setup. I like being with my equipment so not a biggy for me.

10” f5 Celestron Newt

I’m coming up on a year in the hobby and got 2 OTAs and a Samyang 135mm F2. They share 1 mount for now and another is on the way in the near future.

The two are:

Esprit 120ED
Apertura 75Q (I’ve barely used this after I got the Esprit but the season is starting to be good for it again)

Current plans are to get an EdgeHD later for galaxy season.

In hindsight, I probably should’ve just started with an EdgeHD, Medium Newt, or the Esprit since I like targets for those more than the 75Q’s targets.

One Intes Micro Alter M809
One Skywatcher Equinox 120ed
One SuperApo Officina Stellare 80/600
One Orion 80ed
One Etx90
One Coronado PST
and I'm sure I'm forgetting something…
Sometimes I think I'm fuc*ing crazy…….

External focuser on an SCT; What about temperature change induced focal shift and back-focus?
It seems like every serious astro-photographer is putting external focusers on the back of the EdgeHD telescopes and locking the mirrors. I picked up a nice little EdgeHD 8" and a Primaluce Lab Esatto 2" LP focuser and gave it a try myself....
