Hello, is there anyone who uses the combination Backyard eos with N.I.N.A?
I have a Canon 200d myself.
I am currently using the combination with the native driver from NINA.
That works quite well so far only if it comes to malfunctions of any kind you have to, for example. disconnect the USB connection but now you have to activate the camera and the Live View.
That would be the question of whether that is possible via remote via Backyard eos?
I'm just afraid that the Ascom driver via BYE will not work.

Thanks for any feedback or experience

Hello Michael,

I am not sure, that I undestand what you are doing. Why do you want to use both programs at the same time? In my early days, I used Backyard EOS for my old 5D Mark II. Then I switched to APT and later to NINA, which is an awesome tool. As I understand it, NINA should work well with your camera without the need for Backyard EOS, shouldn't it? (I never tried NINA with a DSLR.)

The Ascom Drivers are made to connect from different apps to the same hardware which is not possible with the standard windows drivers. But why do you want to control one camera from two apps that run at the same time? It feels like you are used to BYE and want to benefit from your knowledge. I am quite sure, that all the features will be available in NINA, too.

Maybe with some more information, we will be able to help you.

Regards

Christian

Hello Christian,

yes it is true to use both programs is actually pointless.

In the meantime I even tried it, it worked, but unfortunately it forced the CPU to its knees…
After the whole action had huge problems because there were conflicts with the drivers … N.I.N.A saw the camera but couldn't connect it natively - fail of the year smile … my own fault …
it only helped to reinstall the Ascom drivers.
BYE was connected to NINA via the COM port as the Ascom camera setting(in NINA). this connection had to be disconnected (in the BYE settings) then the Ascom drivers could be uninstalled and everything worked as before …puuhhh

To your question .

-I wanted the mirror lock-up function.
-Display of the chip temperature … because there are forever many error entries in the LOG file but apparently it does not lead to any problems, but it would be nice if the value did possibility existed.
-> read at bitbucket that a user noticed the same error, but the developer replied that he does not take the temperature. He explained that it does not reflect the real chip temperature anyway, but only the current camera temperature.
-It is similar with the battery indicator.

but since these are rather minor problems. stand alone N.I.N.A. is stable, just haven't had many nights, but everything went relatively smoothly during the two nights of recording so far.
There is still one problem but I have already told the developer and hope that this will still be implemented then NINA would be 100% in my case.

Thank you for your interest in this topic!
