Printers

Just curious;  what type of printer do you professionals use when printing out your final images.   Right now, I'm using a Canon Pixma Pro-10 but I have seen other printers out there with a larger color array and even some color laser printers.  Do any of you have an opinion on which is best; the ink jet or the laser?  Also,  are there  brands any of you prefer over others?   The Canon I use is fine however, it takes a while to decide to print as it goes through it's clicks and clatters before any printing takes place.  I'm looking forward to your ideas.

Clear skies,

I use a Canon pro-10 as well. Would love to upgrade to the Canon pro-2100 but logistically I can't fit it in my office. I don't think laser is the way to go, I am unfamiliar with any that produce photo quality to my standards. Inkjet giclée is where it's at in my opinion. I personally print on a Hahnemuhle Photo Rag 308 matte paper and the prints are to die for. But the Canon Pro-2100 uses the same ink, just more varieties of it (12 cartridge if memory serves). Right now for anything bigger than the 13x19 that the Pro-10 can handle I use Bay Photo fine art papers which offers the same Hahnemuhle Photo Rag 308. It is costly so I don't tend to go larger than 12x18 with a border unless I have a specific order for a larger print. And yes, if you don't print with the Pro-10 often it does cleaning cycles wasting ink but keeping the print head primed for use and unclogged. And I always use OEM inks in my Pro-10 because longevity is a very large factor when selling prints. The 3rd party inks would be fine for my wall I suppose, but fade way too fast to sell as archival photos.
